The Flow of Life
This painting has an important pedigree. It was commissioned by the Drucker Foundation to accompany an article by the Harvard evolutionary biologist and paleontologist Stephen Jay Gould. The artwork needed to be descriptive of plant and animal life but also needed a strong sense of "Aliveness" to attract the viewer. Frank Ordaz was selected. This original oil canvas is painted in an expressive and naturalistic manner. The colors are vibrant and rich to reflect the mating song of attracting life forms in continuing the life cycle. Whether in the air or on the earth or in waters deep, life continues in a quest for more life and perpetual existence. The Amazon rain forest is a prime archipelago of this struggle for survival. The scene is teaming with Macaws, hummingbirds, iguanas, succulent flowers and numerous fishes and even a sea horse. Attraction between species is a key element that scientists are still discovering. How do we attract mates? What are favorable conditions and environments for this circle of life? The answers are as varied as the questions.
